We created this website in honor and memory of our loving pet and family member Pumpkin, who was our beloved therapy dog, best friend, teacher of love and life, our Angel from heaven.
Our Golden Retriever, Pumpkin was full of love, joy, fun and endless wonder. He brought a warmth and energy and healing kindness to all, of the wonderful people he had the opportunity to meet.
It was after the traumatic loss of our best friend and family member, Pumpkin, during our tremendous grief, we realized how difficult it was to find useful information and resources to help us with our loss and grieving process. We looked for grief counselors, a Pastor for Pumpkin’s funeral service, musicians to play selected music for his service and other information we needed at the time. Much of the information was outdated, unavailable and hard to find reliable information.
We would like for this site to be a place to find resources for other grieving pet families to help with your loss and grieving process.
We would love to share the stories of other wonderful pet families with the world, to memorialize and remember their special pets, to share hopeful and uplifting memories and lessons learned to help others through their loss.
We also created this site to follow Pumpkin through his diagnosis of kidney disease and medical treatments. Associated with this page will be a link to his Internal Medicine Doctor, articles on kidney disease, treatments, alternative medicine and our time with Pumpkin from beginning of life to his journey through his life to his end of treatment and passing.
There will also be information on tube feeding, which we had to implement, helping Pumpkin stay nourished when the nausea interfered with his appetite, taste-buds and sense of smell. We want you to know that we were scared when confronted with the choice of having a feeding tube surgically put into his esophagus through his neck, the potential risks and process of tube feeding properly. After the surgery, and a few feedings, it was relatively easy and gave us comfort to know that Pumpkin was getting nourishment since he would no longer eat on his own from the progression of his kidney disease.
This helped him to regain his strength, weight and live with relatively normal activities, and prolong his quality of life.
There will be links for suggested books to read, and we will update information on useful resources from other individuals that is shared with us to help others looking for answers.
We hope that you will enjoy some of the photos, videos and stories from Pumpkin’s life and share some of yours as well.
